Soccer and picnic

We have been having such bad weather lately (well, bad for us but awesome for our newly planted plants and trees) that yesterday we decided to take full advantage of the unexpected sunny afternoon. First we went to Kaitlin's last soccer game of the season. She played great! She even scored one of the most difficult goals in soccer, directly off a corner kick. Somehow she kicked it with the right amount of spin and it went straight into the goal. We were so proud of her for finally understanding what "team spirit" means and for playing hard the entire game(the goal was just a nice bonus). We're hoping that they will keep the girls on the same team again in the fall since they are finally learning how to play with each other.
Since it turned out to be such a windy afternoon we decided to go to a little park in our neighborhood and have a picnic. We were finally able to fly Nicole's kite that she got as a birthday present back in January. Kaitlin (she prefers this over Kaitie now-a-days) was so good at making sure that the kite stayed up the entire time. Nicole kept insisting to try to fly the kite on her own, but the second we would let go she would say "mom, dad, help please, I really really need some help." It was way cute! Check out Nicki's cute sunglasses. She chose them herself and she insists on always wearing them when we are out of the house, and thankfully she just keeps them on all the time.
